In 2022, CareQuest Institute examined the experiences of individuals identifying as LGBTQ+ "regarding their oral health, access to dental care, and experiences with discrimination."

Some key findings illustrated the disparities experienced by members of the LGBTQ+ community, including higher instances of using emergency departments for dental care and increased difficulty in getting care.
