In September 2025, Apple Tree Dental celebrated 40 years of overcoming barriers to oral health through access, compassion, and excellence.

The event had three main components: a CE session in the morning featuring amazing voices in dental and health care from across Apple Tree's history; tours of the flagship Twin Cities location, the Mounds View Center for Dental Health; and a gala dinner with speeches and a video showing Apple Tree's incredible past, present, and future.

Darcy and John are hardworking small business owners. Because health insurance is typically provided by employers, Darcy and John rely on state insurance issued by Minnesota. Unfortunately, many dentists aren't able to take patients who use state insurance.

With Apple Tree Dental's Rochester Center, Darcy and John have been able to find a dental home. Nonprofit, Critical Access Dental providers fill the gaps left in the healthcare system by being a place for everyone.

In 2025, Apple Tree Dental’s then-Research Director (now Chief Transformation Officer), Dr. Lyubov Slashcheva, earned the American Dental Association’s “10 Under 10” Award. The 10 Under 10 Award celebrates dentists who have demonstrated excellence, especially in science, research, and education, while having graduated from dental school less than 10 years ago.

Dr. Slashcheva's interest in public health started as a child when she and her family immigrated from Kazakhstan. Today, she is Apple Tree's Chief Transformation Officer and an integral part of serving patients in rural West Central Minnesota.

Unfortunately, Amanda, a patient at our Fergus Falls Center, is no stranger to tooth pain. Thankfully, she has been able to lean on Apple Tree to maintain better oral health and to overcome any dental challenges she might experience.
