Dr. Lyubov Slashcheva is not only Apple Tree Dental's Chief Transformation Officer, but also the Research Director and a dentist. She started working with Apple Tree Dental in 2019.

Dr. Slashcheva earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in Virginia. She is also a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, a Fellow of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry, and a Fellow of Leadership in Education on Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health, has a Graduate Certificate in Biostatistics and Global Health Studies, a Masters in Dental Public Health, and a Graduate Certificate in Geriatric and Special Needs Dentistry. She is also a member of a variety of professional organizations related to dentistry, public health, and geriatric and special care dentistry, including the ADA/MDA, APHA, AAPHD, AcademyHealth, SCDA, ASGD, ADEA, IADR/AADOCR, AIDPH, and AADMD. She has also volunteered in leadership positions in nearly all of the professional organizations of which she is a member.

All of Dr. Slashcheva's experience made Apple Tree Dental an ideal setting to apply her skills and passions to improve the lives of individuals and communities that experience barriers to oral health. She is honored to represent Apple Tree Dental at a variety of invited symposia, summits, and coalitions.

As Chief Transformation Officer, Dr. Slashcheva feels it is very rewarding to align innovations and influence efforts in research and advocacy with Apple Tree Dental's mission to overcome barriers to oral health for our patients and staff, while also sharing learnings and inspiring progress in the oral health profession more broadly.

Through her training in Dental Public Health, Dr. Slashcheva has experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as research, advocacy, surveillance/epidemiology, grant writing, and scientific communication, including presenting and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. She has led scientific conference program planning, strategic planning initiatives, and advocacy activities. As a clinician, Dr. Slashcheva has experience in collaborating with nurse anesthesia providers to provide sedation dentistry to adults with disabilities and other conditions. She also has experience with providing oral health services in community settings such as long-term care facilities and group homes.

Growing up as an immigrant from Kazakhstan and having lived in Latin America, Dr. Slashcheva speaks both Russian and Spanish. She likes bicycling for commuting and leisure, gardening, and cooking/preserving food. She and her husband adopted three sibling groups (nine kids total!) from foster care; several are now young adults. In her scarce free time, she enjoys playing the flute, making pottery, and creative writing.
