Quentin Knutson, DDS, completed his undergraduate degree in Genetics at the University of Minnesota. He worked as a caregiver for adults and children with disabilities starting his senior year of high school up until he returned to the University of Minnesota for dental school where he graduated with distinction. Dr. Knutson joined the Apple Tree Dental team in mid-2021 after finishing pediatric specialty residency at the University of Minnesota. He is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
He credits his mom, a dental assistant, for getting him interested in dentistry.  One challenge that he loves is winning over apprehensive patients and watching them overcome their fears.  He believes all kids have tremendous potential and he enjoys teaming up with families to help their kids reach this potential. Dr. Knutson is compassionate and aims to treat all children the way he would want his children treated. And, he sees treating children and patients with disabilities as a great responsibility and privilege.
Dr. Knutson aligns with Apple Tree Dental’s mission to overcome barriers to care. He strives daily to recognize these barriers and do everything in his power to help families navigate these barriers so that all children can receive the high quality care that they deserve. Dr. Knutson aims to teach dental residents these values while staffing the Hennepin Healthcare (HCMC) clinic and operating room on Mondays and Fridays.
Dr. Knutson is dedicated to patient-centered care and family-centered care, and has a strong interest in sedation dentistry.  He belongs to a variety of groups, including AAPD, AADMD, SCDA, MDA, ADA, AAP, and MAPD, as well as the PACER Medical Advisory Board. He is part of the 2018-2019 cohort of MN LEND fellows, which was an experience that dramatically shaped him into the provider he is today in providing care to children and families with neurodevelopmental differences.  In the past, he has volunteered with Special Smiles, Unified Sports, and Mission Save a Smile.

Originally from Brooklyn Park, Dr. Knutson now lives near Maple Grove with his wife, two young children, and three pets.  He loves being outdoors, and is a vocal musician as well as a trombone player.  He’s also a big Minnesota sports fan, with baseball being the favorite!
